BREASTCHECK SHOWCASES DIGITAL MAMMOGRAPHY SERVICE AT SYMPOSIUM MAMMOGRAPHICUM 2008

- 24 July 2008

BreastCheck showcased its transfer to full digital mammography at this year’s Symposium Mammographicum by bringing a BreastCheck mobile digital screening unit to the event in Lille.

The specially designed mobile unit is part of a fleet used by BreastCheck to screen eligible women aged 50-64 for breast cancer.

BreastCheck is the first national cancer screening programme worldwide to use digital mammography for routine breast screening. This development attracted great interest among conference attendees to discuss the experience of digital mammography and the opportunities available for radiographers with BreastCheck.

The three-day 2008 conference brought together radiographers, radiologists, breast clinicians and other professionals working in the field of radiography and breast imaging. BreastCheck was further represented at the event by a team of BreastCheck radiographers and breast clinicians, working in the field of digital mammography and breast imaging.

Current radiography and mammography issues such as breast MRI updates, digital innovations and treating early breast cancer formed the theme of this year’s Symposium, with distinguished experts Dr Lia Bartella (New York, USA), Professor Martin Yaffe (Toronto, Canada) and Professor Ingvar Anderrson (Lund, Sweden) delivering presentations on their respective fields of expertise.
